A beautiful sermon I heard today
Defining the meaning of submission
What does it mean to be one who submits
And to what do we submit
Can we pick and choose
Can we mix and match
We say we submit
But do we truly
Understand what it means
To submit to our Lord
All gathered in the musallah
To celebrate the festival of sacrifice
Of Abraham and his family
Attired and dressed
Young and old
Clad in the best
Eager and in anticipation
To begin festivities
But the khutbah reminds us
The Khateeb enlightens us
The sermon highlights meanings
Of what it means to truly submit Submission and Sacrifice are they one and the same.. or do they each mean different things ?
We ponder over the sacrifice of Abraham
Submit he did to the command of his Lord
Obey he did the ordainments endowed
Defining for us what submission truly is
A festival you say
Celebrating the true meaning of submission
Celebrating the true meaning of love
Love for his only child
Whom he begot after much longing
Love for his Creator
Faith that He would deliver
Khaleelullah he was called
We remember him in every salah
Khaleelullah he was called
For eternity we follow his footsteps
The path he traversed
Monuments constructed and rites followed reminiscing moments great
Recalling sacrifices made
Remembering the true meaning of submission. ❤️
